Costa Rica Trip Leader
Phoebe Joubert
Phoebe grew up in the Midwest, where playing in the lakes of Illinois and Indiana nurtured her love for the water. Whether it was fishing with her grandpa, learning how to do a variety of watersports, or strapping on goggles to explore the underwater world, she couldn’t get enough. It was through these experiences that she developed a curiosity for nature, a desire to protect it, and a passion for sharing it with others.
In 2021, Phoebe received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. In her final semester, she was able to study abroad in Prague, Czech Republic. This experience expanded her knowledge of the field of education and her love for travel. Following graduation, Phoebe taught 3rd grade in North Carolina where she was deeply moved by the impact of a class field trip to a local state park. This led her to pursue outdoor education in Texas. Between leading kayaking expeditions, teaching hands-on about reptiles, and conducting experiments on the water quality of the local lake she saw first hand just how powerful involving kids in conversations surrounding stewardship of the environment and providing them with positive experiences in the outdoors can be.
In her free time, Phoebe continues to seek opportunities that allow her to gain more experience in outdoor adventure and seeing more about the world including learning how to surf in Portugal, backpacking solo around Europe, and completing the 170 mile Coastal Route of the Camino de Santiago. She also enjoys trying out new coffee shops, reading, crafting, and spending time outdoors with the people she loves. Phoebe is stoked to be a part of the Sea Turtle Camp Team, and cannot wait to explore and learn alongside her campers this summer in Costa Rica!
