Costa Rica Trip Leader
Lillie Lawrence
Lillie Lawrence recently graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Conservation. As a U.S. Navy veteran, she developed a strong sense of leadership and adaptability that she now brings into her work with environmental education and conservation. Growing up with a love for the outdoors, wildlife, and the ocean, she has always been drawn to hands-on experiences that connect people with nature.
Lillie previously studied abroad in Costa Rica, where she worked on projects involving ecotourism, permaculture, biodiversity research, and sustainable agriculture. Her time there deepened her passion for conservation and inspired her interest in environmental education and community outreach. She loves being able to combine science, creativity, and communication in a way that makes environmental topics feel exciting and approachable for others.
Outside of conservation work, Lillie is also an artist who enjoys painting coastal scenes, wildlife, and nature-inspired pieces. In her free time, she loves shelling, shark teeth hunting, hiking, traveling, and searching for reptiles and amphibians outdoors. She hopes to continue her education through graduate school in the future, with interests in wildlife conservation, environmental communication, and creative outreach. She is excited to spend her summer helping campers connect with nature while encouraging curiosity, confidence, and appreciation for the environment.
